Caldermeade Farm & Cafe
Caldermeade Farm offers a unique experience for family and friends. Enjoy great country food in the natural settings of a large commercial dairy farm, view milking in progress and let the children experience the joys of the small animal nursery.
Situated on the South Gippsland Highway just south of Pakenham and Kooweerup, Caldermeade Farm and Cafe is the ideal place to stop off on a trip to Phillip Island or a visiting the many attractions of Gippsland. Caldermeade Farm was settled in 1875. It was originally a premier beef and cattle property. Today, it is a fully operational commercial dairy farm and cafe. Caldermeade Farm and Café is very unique because it enables visitors to watch a milking and learn about how a dairy farm works.
Historically, cows used to be milked by hand, but in today’s fast paced, modern world, they are milked using technology. The dairy industry has moved from using milking sheds with wooden back out stalls, to walk through dairies, to herringbones and, now more commonly, the rotary dairy, as seen at Caldermeade Farm and Café.
Nestled behind century old Hawthorn hedges is the friendly family café providing indoor and outdoor dining. Schools, community, disabled and special interest groups can take advantage of specialized farm tours by arrangement.
